YOUR NEW PRESIDENT:
KFDW President, Cassie Woolworth
Thank you all!!
I’m so grateful you have selected me as president for this 2025-2027 season. I’m thrilled to take my place in the line of many fantastic women leaders (Thank You CANDACE!). For 72 years the KFDW has been supporting women candidates and causes, aligning with so many women’s issues – the right to vote, own a credit card, own property of our own, agency over our own bodies – it’s a scary time for women but we will resist, persist, and PREVAIL. We must not, WILL NOT leave this world worse for our grandchildren. Stand Up, Talk Back, as Jess Piper says.
Speaking of Jess Piper – if you did not go to the KFDW Convention this weekend you missed out on dynamic women, powerful speeches, and a special (and intimate) Q&A with Jess Piper. She reminded us that Missouri was THE test ground for Project 2025 and they are saddled with 4-day school weeks, lowest teacher pay in the nation, 49th in the nation for schools. We can’t let western Kansans pay this terrible price. We all know once the school leaves, the town dies. And, yes, the GOP is actively trying to privatize schooling which will kill all these tiny towns.
Jason Probst reminded us about the Kansas/Missouri border war, and that people moved specifically to Kansas to make sure we entered as a FREE state (not slave-state). In the mid-1800’s these people packed up all their belongings, family, and livestock, and wagon-trained across states to re-settle in Kansas. They had decided this far, but no more. NO MORE.
Intimate Q&A with Jess Piper
Yessi Womochil reminded us what we are fighting for. Yessi is a DACA recipient – came here at 3. She is currently pursuing her green card and works at a law firm that specializes in Immigration. She reminded us that we are all immigrants. The people coming to America want what we all want, safety, freedom, and opportunity. We’re fighting for each other.
THREE ginormous messages
- FIGHT FOR EACH OTHER
- THIS FAR, NO MORE
- STAND UP, TALK BACK!
I’m so appreciative of all these dynamic, wonderful, motivating speakers, and the multi-dimensional women supporting the KFDW. We have lots of work to do.
Now, as Jess says,
#LFG
