Gov. Kathleen Sebelius Community Service Project
This project is sponsored by the Kansas Federation of Democratic Women (KFDW). Democratic Women’s chapters in Kansas are invited to apply for a grant in the amount of $250 to be used to fund a local service project. Suggestions include working with schools, homeless shelters, food banks, women’s shelters, etc. Applications should be submitted by May 1 each year. One grant of $250 will be awarded each year.
The final evaluation form must be submitted to the Executive Committee of KFDW by March 1 of the year following the award. The selected chapter is asked to make a presentation about their project at the state KFDW convention in April. Please send applications and evaluations to the KFDW President. Robert B. Docking Memorial Scholarship
The Robert B. Docking Memorial Scholarship Fund was started in the 1980s in honor of Gov. Robert Docking who served as Kansas Governor from 1967–1975. The scholarship is given to a Democratic woman after high school who is planning to go or is going to a trade school or a post-secondary educational institution to support their education and training. Applicants may apply for up to $1000 per year. The Scholarship is presented at the Annual Meeting of the Kansas Federation of Democratic Women in April.
